临高人偶戏——海南临高艺人以本地民歌调为主要唱腔，使用木偶为道具，人与偶共同扮演角色的一种戏剧。是世界少见、中国唯一、海南独有的稀有剧种，主要流传于海南临高，始于南宋末期。

其最大的艺术特点是演出时不设布幛，人偶同台演出，即表演者手撑木偶，化装登台，唱念做打，均与所持木偶同演一个角色。其表演形式，或操作木偶做戏，配以身段步伐，或以演员表情补充、丰富人偶表情的不足。表演中发挥人与偶、偶与偶、人与人等人偶互为一体的多样表演方法，整个过程人、偶同喜怒哀乐，声情并茂，惟妙惟肖。

Created in the late Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279), Lingao Puppet Show is a rare form of drama only found in Lingao. Instead of pulling strings behind the screen, artists appear on stage with special costumes and make-up, holding a puppet in hand and performing in its role in singing, dialogue, acting or acrobatic fighting. The local vocal music, elegant movements and facial expressions of artists make the show much more interactive and entertaining.
