海南公仔戏——使用海南地方戏调，以海南方言来表演的一种木偶戏。也被称为“木偶戏”、“傀儡戏”、“手托木头戏”。元代已出现手托木头戏，是历史悠久且具有海南地方特色的戏曲表演艺术品种，主要流传于海南海口、文昌等地。

公仔戏的偶像用木头雕刻而成。制作工艺精致，每一件都是一件艺术品。角色有各路神仙及动物，现今有生、旦、净、末、丑、佛祖、老虎等20多种。表演时导演者在幕后操作，手与曲肘并用，木偶可嘴张闭、眼转动、须能动、跺脚、拂袖等多种动作。

Originated from the Yuan Dynasty (1271 – 1368), Hainan puppet show is performed in local dialect and is popular in Haikou and Wenchang.

The puppets are carved out of wood with exquisite craftsmanship. The 20-odd types of roles include male roles, female roles, painted faces and clowns as in other Chinese operas and immortals including Buddhas, dragon king,and goddesses as animals such as tiger.Through behind-the-scene manipulation, the puppets can open and close their mouths, roll their eyes, sway their beards, stamp their feet and flick their sleeves.
